some remarks on Dutch woman artist Marina Wortel, Amsterdam - The Netherlands
Marina Wortel (1956) was born in Amsterdam and grew up in a family in which art played an important role. As far as fine art is concerned to a large extent she is a self-taught artist.
In course of years she has developed a personal style which can be described as “abstract expressionism”. The techniques she applies to her paintings, drawings and collages can be considered as wilful. She applies various materials to her work. In her collages the combination of colour, or rather black and white, evokes a freakish regularity and optical depths.
